munich (munchen)

the german kezboard switches the y and the z and some other minor puctuation details. iäm just going to go with it and let zou decipher it.

i was craving piyya hut. we looked but didnät find one. we settled for subwaz. get this. iäm full. iäm full after eating a 6 inch (15cm) sandwich. kellz is not big on the authentic foods often times so we end up eating whatever american chain options there are on the rare occasions that we eat a real meal. as soon as we ate we were walking home and passed a piyya hut. frustrating. i know where it is now.

zou wouldnät believe how cold it is in munich. reallz cold (and driyylz). just zesterdaz we were oklahoma hot in rome and todaz we are on the north pole. mz bodz is so confused right now.

we saw two castles todaz in the mistz mountains in south germanz in the alps. it was beautiful. it was wet too. there was a ton of hiking around and we did as much as we could bear. thez saz the disnez castle was at least partiallz modelled after one of them.

i am disappointed with the vatican. we were saving it for our last daz in rome. we crammed everzthing else we wanted to see into two dazs. the evening before our earlz morning rise to beat the lines someone tells us that it will be closed for holidaz. holidaz. the vatican canät have holidazs. its where people go for holidazs.

i had a dream that night that we and a few others in our hostel who were planning to go declared war on the nation of the vatican. we tied up our hostel worker and carried our bunk beds (a long waz) and stacked them at the walls to siege the citz. we vandaliyed the whole thing. take that catholicism.

in real life i just wanted to sneak in and look at everzthing. no vandalism. just looking. just like i wanted to break from our catacombs tour and explore down there. no harm intended...just adventure, like indiana jones.

we daz tripping like the beatles to salyburg tomorrow. hopefullz it will be warmer and drzer and less fog to see the mountains.

kellz and i have been thinking and prazing a whole lot for vision for our lives. zou can join with us in that please. for the last couple of zears weäve been making opportunitz to create options and keep options open. we have trouble jumping into anzthing because we have ezes on everzthing else as well. we are wanting to hear from The Lord for the dream that He has made us for. the dream that we can sell all we have for... this goes for our cluster as well. what do we do now? i did feel like The Lord told me on my birthdaz that on mz 30th all this lack of dreams and vision that iäve had mz entire life would be done with and i would be established and running in them in 3 zears. ???

weäll be home in less that one week.

we are going to see sigur ros in dresden officiallz now. we had a bit of drama with the tickets. thez didnät come before we left. thez didnät come before the jaquas left to meet us. and thez came late but the post office wouldnät let andrew pick them up at first. he laid down the charm or the puppz dog ezes (i wasnät there) and thez let him get them and 2 daz ship them to where we will be in berlin tomorrow. we just got word that thez arrived (the last daz possible cuy the post doesnät run tomorrow). zes.

i feel like iäm getting frequent reminders that the lord is with me. aÄ the other daz in a long line where we would miss our train waiting to reserve a seat for it i asked the lord to open another window for the line. i go to the bathroom and return to all of the lines available for eurail pass holders instead of just one. bÄ todaz it was pouring on the waz to the castles and super cloudz. i asked the lord to clear it up a bit so we could see them in peace. it continued to rain prettz hard as we were hiking to them. just as we were getting there the rain stopped and the fog lifted substantiallz. it was still foggz. but cool foggz. as soon as we were on the waz down it started raining again and we couldnät see the castles anzmore. bam.

another iPhone post

thanks to Steve jobs and free wireless at our hostel this post comes your way.

We loved cinqe terre. Specifically we stayed in monorola. We had no reservations and had to keep hiking up the hill to inquire about rooms. We were consistently denied like Mary and Joseph. Just as the last hope was getting sqeezed out of us a woman at a bed and breakfast called a friend with a room for us that was open. Neither of them spoke any english but just chatted away at us. For those that are unaware cinqe terre is a series of 5 villages on the mountainous coast of Italy north of Rome. Each has it's own charm. It is a national park area and you can hike from village to village. The mountain side is full of vineyards. The villages are full of travelers and classic older Italians who only the Lord knows how their hips hold up every day walking up endless hills and stairs. Our room had a tv and we got to catch some olympics during siesta time. USA! It's funny how you can watch any sport and enjoy it during Olympic season. And why do the Swiss have a sand volleyball team?

We enjoyed great pasta and great hiking for two days before training to Rome with a quick stop in Pisa for a couple of pics. Everyone, and I'm talking everyone is posing in the distance like they are holding the leaning tower up. I was amazed my the mass lack of originality. Let's see someone push it over or cowering as it could fall on them. Our train to Rome had a busted air conditioner. Hot ride. Rome is a great city. There is so much to see here and so much history. Best of all they were showing batman in English near our hostel which we did last night. Awesome!

We went to the coliseum and the pantheon and tons of other sites on a super long walk. Today we did a guided tour through the catacombs and st peters basilica. We're planning on going to the Vatican tomorrow primarily for the Sistine chapel. Someone told us it will be closed though which would be the bums. Hopefully they are crazy or a liar like the weatherman who says it's gonna rain to get the golf course to himself.

been a long time

internet has been inconvenient to come by and we have been on the run.

we had a great time with the jaquas in edinburgh and the lake district and london. we did lots of walkin-hiking, talking and playing spades. edingurgh was a highlight. it was a really great city with castles and hills and magic (the school that inpired hogwarts is there across from a cafe that jk wrote from).

one great moment was in the lake district. laurel occasionally acts out funny-weird stuff unconsiously in the night. kelly was her roommate for several years and is used to it and now aaron is too. but not me. we were in a 4 bed hostel room. apparently she started yelling in the night. i guess i incorporated this into a dream where there was a wounded woman in our room with a knife so i unconsciously started yelling to and saying 'what!' 'what!' 'what!'. we were our hostel was a strictly silence after 11 pm. aaron freaked out at the choir of yelling and was saying 'guys, guys, guys, guys, guys, guys, guys!' in a weird rhythmic way. kelly joined in on the beat with a 'laurel!' 'laurel'. i came to somewhere in this very confused, not knowing where i was, and thinking a violent wounded woman was in our pitch black room. just as i had gotten in a crouching position ready to pounce on whoever was in there from my top bunk i realized that laurel was just having a night terror. full adrenaline i laid back down listening to aaron giggle quietly in his bed.

since we have left the jaquas in london and flown to nice. we celebrated our anniversary in avignon, explored cannes and monte carlo. we spent a day in venice and now florence. we are about to train to cinquatera 'the sunshine of italy' as stated by the italians we met in amsterdam.

dingle, dublin, edinburgh and more!

its been a while. i've been busy...

grace gave john the puppy eye's and convinced him to take us all to dingle in their car. it was awesome. the drive was beautiful. much of it was on the coast or at the mouth of the shannon river. there were rolling hills as far as the eye could see and they had large gridlike patterns on them that on closer view were stone walls some with greenery growing out of them. dingle was truly breathtaking. kelly was very happy. 'i have been appeased' she proudly stated. we drove to the end of the penninsula and walked down into a beachy area where we were told 'several movies have been filmed there'. we grabbed some bbq fajitas on the way home and crashed (in sleep not a car crash) when we got back to limerick.

the next morning we slept in and missed our intended train to dublin. i set the alarm but didn't engage it. classic. luckily there was another an hour later which we grabbed. we stored our luggage at the bus station lockers and spent the day walking around. it was rainy most of the day which puts a minor dab on it all. we looked through the beatty archives inside of the dublin castle area which was really cool. they had a great ancient biblical texts collection. we saw some pieces of the gospels all the way from the 2nd century...very early copies of the originals. we spent a lot of time shopping and looking for something specific for a certain family member but never found it. we bussed to the airport to jump over to edinburgh (edinborough) on a very late ryanair flight.
